For those of you who will be attending the Orienteering outing on Saturday, November 6:

Everyone (drivers and scouts) should meet at RPC at 8:30 a.m. for an 8:35 departure. We will drive to the trail head: Interstate 55 South to Cass Ave, Cass Ave South to Northgate Road, West on Northgate to the 2nd turn North (1st turn dumps back onto the frontage road from the looks of the map.) We plan on starting the hike at 9:00 a.m. at Waterfall Glen.

The scouts need to bring:
– Compass (if they have one)
– Sack Lunch (will eat after the event at the trail head picnic benches)
– Water bottle (We will bring a 5-gal dispenser jug)
– Gloves or mittens
– Hat
– Spare socks
– Hiking boots (if they have them, but NOT snow boots)

The drivers will drop boys at their homes after the outing.

Congratulations to Ben Mitchell, who became Troop 24’s most recent Eagle Scout on November 4!

This week our Troop meeting will be held at the Scout Cabin on FRIDAY. Scouts who intend to go to Waterfall Glen on Saturday should definitely attend the meeting on Friday.

Don’t forget to sign up for our orienteering outing to Waterfall Glen to be held Saturday, November 6. Scouts should be dropped off at RPC at 8:30 a.m. Return time will be approximately 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., depending when we complete the course. There is no cost for this outing. The adult leaders in charge will be Ray Rogers and Joe Ourth. The deadline for signing up for the outing is Wednesday, November 3. Scouts should bring a sack lunch and a water bottle.

Scouts who attend this outing, as well as the meeting this Friday at the Scout Cabin (November 5) will complete requirements 1a and 1b toward 2nd Class, and requirements 1 and 2 toward 1st Class. We could also use assistance from some of our high school scouts to lead the orienteering groups. For further information, please contact Dawn Gmitro at dmgmitro@aol.com. Popcorn orders were due last week. If you have not turned in your popcorn orders, please contact Mrs. Ricchio immediately at Garfi94169@aol.com

Mrs. Ricchio also needs one van & driver to pick up the popcorn this Saturday, November 6, at 5100 W. 70th Place in Bedford Park. It should take about 1 1/2 hours. Please contact Renee Ricchio directly if you are able to help.

Finally, popcorn pick-up for the scouts will be on Saturday, November 14, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at 2452 S. 2nd Avenue in North Riverside.
