Scout Cabin Kick-Off on September 5

The first Troop meeting of the year will be at the Scout Cabin on Friday, September 5. Scouts should be dropped off at the Scout Cabin at 7:00 p.m. and picked up on Saturday morning by 9:00 a.m. (scouts can call for pick-up). Scouts should come prepared to sleep in tents for the night. Each scout should bring a weiner roast stick to roast hot dogs. A light breakfast will be served on Saturday morning. There is NO COST for this outing, but we need to know how many to plan for, so we’re asking that you sign up in advance at http://troop24riverside.com/2014/08/scout-cabin-campout-form-september-5-2014/

Scout Cabin Campout Form – September 5, 2014

Extreme Whitewater on the Ocoee River

On Thursday our scouts tackled the Ocoee river in Tennessee. One website described it as “big waves, warm water, and continuous action.” They will finish up tomorrow on the mighty Chattooga which runs through Georgia & South Carolina. It boasts class 5 rapids, including a plunge over an 8-foot waterfall. At the end of the week our scouts will have visited 8 states and rafted 5 major rivers in 5 days. Everyone is doing well but tired. They have a 5:00-6:00 a.m. wakeup everyday, with 4:30 on Thursday.
