Popcorn Sales Deadline

Hello Again Troop 24 Scouts and Parents,

Friendly reminder, all order forms and online sales should be completed and turned in to me by Saturday night October 29, 2022 to count toward this year’s totals. Scouts can bring the forms to our Thursday meeting or drop off at my house, 147 S Delaplaine Rd. I encourage everyone to avoid submitting cash. Please have checks made out to yourself and then consolidate the cash/checks total to one personal check made out to Riverside Troop 24. Popcorn Fundraiser Information

Hello Troop 24 Scouts and Parents,

I have the privilege of being the Troop 24 Popcorn Kernel, and I welcome you to another year of our Boy Scout fundraising campaign. Troop 24 has offered this opportunity for our scouts to earn money for this year’s scouting events. All sales (order form or online) will give the scouts 1/3 of the money back for use in Troop 24 or PTAC events. Some scouts even paid for their own Tesomas trip last year with popcorn proceeds. We have been distributing the standard order forms at the meetings. I also have some inside a blue folder inside my mailbox at my house for pick-up if needed at 147 S Delaplaine Rd.

This year there is the same popcorn company, Pecatonica River Popcorn, www.prpopcorn.com, and they will be sending all the parents an email and web link for setting up online sales for each individual scout. There are numerous items online and shipping is free! Please set-up and share the link via email or social media to friends and family anywhere in the country. Online sales are an easy way to reach out. If they don’t want popcorn there are military donations as well. If you do not get the email from pops@prpopcorn.com, check your spam/junk folder first, then email me at axponn@gmail.com to correct.

Finally, all order forms and online sales should be completed and turned in to me by Saturday night October 29, 2022 to count toward this year’s totals. I encourage everyone to avoid submitting cash. Please have checks made out to yourself and then consolidate the cash/checks total to one personal check made out to Riverside Troop 24. Product pickup and delivery will be November 12, 2022 weekend. Good luck, get selling, and be safe.

Regards,
Anand Ponnappan

As always, parent chaperones are invited. If you can transport Scouts to and from Lemont, please register as a parent chaperone.

Scouts register here, Adults register here.

Waterfall Glen Options (will select during signup)

-I’d like to hike with the Troop, complete the Orienteering course, and complete the “Trail and backpacking meals” Cooking merit badge requirement.  Click here to review the merit badge.

OR, if your Scout has completed the Orienteering course and Cooking merit badge, they can join the Troop for the hike and help out if needed.

Popcorn Orders Due Friday!

Popcorn orders are due this Friday, October 23. Please bring your form to the troop meeting tonight or drop it off by Friday evening to our Popcorn Kernel at 147 South Delaplaine Road in Riverside.

A Message from our Popcorn Kernel

I have the privilege of being the new Popcorn Kernel, and I welcome you to an interesting and challenging Boy Scout fundraising campaign. Troop 24 has offered this opportunity for our scouts to earn money for this year’s scouting events. All sales (order form or online) will give the scouts 1/3 of the money back for use in Troop 24 or PTAC events.

This year there is a new popcorn company, Pecatonica River Popcorn, www.prpopcorn.com, and they will be sending all the parents an email and web link for setting up online sales for each individual scout. There are numerous items online and shipping is free! Please set-up and share the link via email or social media to friends and family anywhere in the country. If you do not get the email from pops@prpopcorn.com, check your spam/junk folder first, then email me at axponn@gmail.com to correct. If you have multiple scouts in the troop, there should be individual emails, popcorn sales ID’s, and web links for their individual sales.

I strongly encourage online sales this year, but there are other ways to sell as well. We will be distributing the standard order forms over the next week. They have also provided fold-up tent-like order sheets that can be left in a lunchroom or common area at work (etc.) for people to place orders while social distancing. And finally, if you are interested in going door-to-door they have provided these hang tags that can be left on door knobs and picked up later (limited quantity available, so reserved for those who express interest in actual door-to-door).

Finally, all order forms and online sales should be completed and turned in to me by Friday October 23, 2020 to count toward this year’s totals. I encourage everyone to avoid cash and have checks made out to yourself and then consolidate the total to one personal check made out to Troop 24. Good luck and be safe.

Anand Ponnappan

PS: I have popcorn samples and a small prize that will be randomly distributed to the scouts that make any sale by the meeting on October 1st or 8th.

BTW: BSA and Pecatonica have other incentives if scouts sell more than $750+, such as game/event tickets or other major prizes that our scouts can still earn. Also, this fundraiser can fulfill all the requirements for the Salesmanship Merit Badge for the motivated scout.

Popcorn Kernel Needed!

Greetings, Troop 24 Family –

Our Popcorn Kernel of 3 years recently tendered his retirement, so we are in need of a new Kernel!

The popcorn campaign is an important way for the Troop to contribute to the mission of Scouting at the national level, via the Council. And our fellow Cub Scout pack runs their own campaign with the same goal in mind.

The Kernel is an ideal job for someone who can’t make a weekly commitment to Troop activities, but has time to devote to a few key meetings and organizational activities during the Fall.

Key events include the campaign kick off meeting [AUG], socializing of the current year’s campaign with the Scouts [SEP], the collecting of sales forms [OCT], the figuring of prizes based on sales [NOV], and the procuring, storing, and distributing of the popcorn when the campaign is complete [NOV].

If you’d like to take on this important job, please contact our Troop Committee Chair, Carrie Staubus, at committeechair@troop24riverside.com.

Thanks!
