Philmont 2019

Philmont backpacking – June 12 to June 24, 2019

Philmont…Scouting’s Premier High Adventure! The Pinnacle. Yes, whitewater rafting is first this summer but now is the time we must commit to Philmont for summer 2019. We have been awarded a trek through the Philmont lottery system for the ultimate adventure next summer, June 12 to June 24, 2019. This is such a highly sought after high adventure that scouts from around the world regard it as the most satisfying and memorable time of their scouting days. It is extraordinarily special! The history is unsurpassed, the scenery is spectacular, and the challenges build on that unique scout character. However, we must now make a deposit of $100 per scout and $100 per leader to reserve our trek otherwise we will forfeit our spot. The total fee will be $970 for the 12 day trek; plus a cost for transportation. In order to participate, the Scout must be at least First Class rank; 14 years of age OR 13 years of age and an 8th grade graduate by June 12, 2019.

We will have an initial scout and parent meeting Wednesday, April 4th at 7pm at the Riverside Presbyterian Church Social Hall. In the meantime, please check out the Philmont website and make your deposits by April 10th. Troop contact is Bruce Robertson: brobertson5152@aol.com
