Troop 90 Pancake Breakfast on November 22

Troop 90 is having their pancake breakfast on Saturday, November 22, at Brook Park grade school in LaGrange Park. Troop 24 scouts and families can purchase tickets in advance from the Consolo family (e-mail to rettie_@hotmail.com), who will deliver the tickets to your home or to our troop meeting. The cost per ticket is $5.00, and 2 children can come in on 1 ticket. Thank you for your contribution to scouting.

Court of Honor Thursday, October 30

In place of our usual Thursday troop meeting, there will be a Court of Honor this week, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the RPC Social Hall (downstairs).

Wikipedia’s definition of a BSA Court of Honor: “In the Boy Scouts of America a court of honor is a troop activity where scouts and their families come together to get their awards, and have a good time together. It is important for the scouts family members to be there for their scouts receiving his rank advancement, merit badges, and other awards.”

Troop 24 holds 2 Courts of Honor each year–one in the fall and one in the spring. We expect that all scouts participate in these events, although this year we realize there is a conflict with the RB Band & Orchestra concert, which will prevent some of our scouts from attending.

We also ask that each scout have at least one parent or grandparent present. Parents as well as scouts come forward when rank advancements are announced, and it’s sad when a scout has to stand up there alone.

Court of Honor this Thurs: Refreshments Needed!

To all Troop 24 parents: We are in need of volunteers to bring refreshments for after our Fall Court of Honor this Thursday. Please email Sue Lynch at skstrause@us.ibm.com if you can bring something and indicate in the email what you are bringing. Suggestions are cookies, brownies, fruit, cheese & crackers, veggies & dip, hummus or guacamole & chips. We also need a few volunteers to arrive by 6:40 to assist with the food and beverage set-up. Thank you!

Food Pantry Donations Needed

Scout families are asked to bring canned food of any kind to the fall Court of Honor for RPC’s food drive for needy families. Thanks for your help.

Bring Books to Meeting Tonight

All scouts who are not yet First Class should bring their books to the meeting tonight so we can update our database.

Popcorn Orders Due Tonight

ALL popcorn orders are due to our Popcorn Kernel TONIGHT. Scouts can bring orders to the meeting, or order forms and payment can be dropped off at Anne Kodama’s home. Please contact Anne at amkodama@sbcglobal.net to get directions to her house and schedule a drop-off time. Orders must be accompanied by full payment (in other words, if your scout took any orders without getting payment, you will need to pay for the popcorn and get paid when it’s delivered. Scouts should not have sold with an I.O.U.). Parents: please tally counts by popcorn variety and check the totals to be sure the money turned in equals the amount ordered. Our Popcorn Kernel prefers checks only. If your scout collected cash, please keep the cash and write a check to Troop 24 for that amount. Your scout’s names should be on all order forms, and forms and checks should be placed in an envelope.

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 15, for Popcorn Pick-up. Please contact Anne with any questions.
