On this campout, Scouts will be able to bike the scenic 10 mile trail at the Kankakee State Park, and First Class Rank and above scouts will have the option to kayak or canoe.
We need a lot of parent volunteers for this campout, and since it is close, if you can only make one night or just drive that is an option as well.

Additional scout volunteers are needed for the Memorial Day Ceremony in Riverside. If you are in town please attend to help with this imporatant community event.
Troop 24 will participate in Riverside’s annual Memorial Day Ceremony on Monday, May 29, at the St. Mary’s Church Parish Center Gym. We need Scouts in uniform for the U.S. Flag Entrance Parade and Exit Parade and other important duties.
Scouts should plan to arrive at 9:20am prior to the 10am beginning of the ceremony.

Troop 24 will hold its Spring Court of Honor on Thursday, May 25th at 7pm at the Riverside Village Hall. Scouts will be awarded their earned merit badges and rank advancement. Families are invited – Scouts should attend with a parent. Scouts who would like to participate in the flag ceremony or candle lighting ceremony should arrive 15 minutes early.

Boards of Review will take place this Thursday. Sign up HERE if you are ready for a Board of Review. We will also schedule an alternative date for those scouts unable to attend this week’s troop meeting.

If you plan to attend the Railraoding Merit Badge program on June 3, let Mr. Flherty or Mrs. Staubus know by the end of the day Sunday (May 14).
Just a reminder – signup for they climbing campout ends this weekend. Scouts will be camping right on the water and the climbing venue – inside old grain silos – is great. Check out the website below for more details.

We will be climbing at Upper Limits in nearby Bloomington, IL. The pictures below don’t do it justice; Scouts will be climbing in a converted grain silo which is 65 ft tall! We will be camping at Comlara Park Campground located in McClean County.
Scouts can earn a Climbing Merit Badge or just camp and climb for fun on next month’s campout, which is on May 19-21. There is an option to complete a Climbing Merit Badge, start or finish a partial Merit Badge or just climb for fun. If your Scout is a first-time climber, they can choose the merit badge option, but please know that some of the final requirements are a little difficult, and it is totally fine if they need additional practice, which they can get at summer camp to finish the merit badge.

Due to an error in the sign up form for the Railroading merit badge class, youth registrations were not recorded. If you plan to attend the Railroading merit badge, please reply to this email or contact Mrs. Staubus or Mr. Flaherty by the end of the day May 14th.
Here is the information on the outing – we need an additional adult chaparone also.
Troop 24 is planning a group outing to the Railroading Merit Badge program on Saturday, June 3rd at the Lionel Train House in New Lenox. This will be an all day activity and we will meet early at Riverside Presbyterian Church to carpool. The cost is $20 and includes lunch. This is a limited enrollment program, and we will register the troop as a group.
