Congratulations to Carl Lukas, Troop 24’s newest Eagle Scout!
I am in need of 3-4 adults to sit on two Eagle Boards of Review. One will be held on Wednesday, December 22 at 7:00 PM at the Riverside Presbyterian Church. A second EBOR will be held on Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 7:00 PM also at the Riverside Presbyterian Church. Current Eagle Scouts who are 18 are encouraged to volunteer. Sitting on an Eagle Board is a very rewarding opportunity to be a part of a Scout’s final step to achieving the rank of Eagle. No experience is necessary. If you have not sat on an Eagle Board previously I can provide you with resources to familiarize yourself with topics that are discussed at the Board. Additionally, the Board is run by our Council Representative. The time commitment is approximately 1-1 1/2 hrs. Based on CDC guidance masks will be required.
If you are available to help please RSVP by email me at dmgmitro@aol.com.
Thank you,
Dawn Gmitro

Hello Troop 24! Winter is a great time to work on your scout merit badges. The troop will continue to offer instruction at our Thursday evening meetings, but you may want to work on merit badges at these other opportunities:
Three Fires Council has an in-person Merit Badge University on Saturday, February 12 at York High School in Elmhurst. Registration opens tonight (12/17) for this very popular event. See the Three Fires MBU website and Class Catalog for more information and registration.
Pathway to Adventure Council will offer an in-person Merit Badge University and University of Scouting at Triton College on Saturday April 23, 2022. Registration has not yet opened. For more information see the Council Newsletter.
Morton Arboretum offers in-person Merit Badge classes on various dates.
The Troop will offer the Swimming Merit Badge at the Pav YMCA on Sunday January 16th from 3pm to 5pm. Registration coming soon.
As in 2020, we can’t safely provide in-person holiday merriment to the residents of Cantata this year, but we can give them another virtual musical gift.
So, dust off your instruments, tune up your voices, find your carol books, and consider contributing a song to our Troop Anthology.
You can use your preferred device to create your video; feel free to introduce yourself and family members joining you and your song selection. Be festive!
Finally, ensure that a parent is in the video with you, in accordance with Youth Protection guidelines.
Your completed song can be sent to ASM Tim Lauger [tim@lauger.com]. Click HERE to sign up to provide a song!
Friday, December 17 we will have our annual holiday party! See details below:
