Holiday Stroll – December 2, 2016

Scouts & adults are needed for our annual s’mores tent at Riverside’s Holiday Stroll Friday, December 2. We provide ingredients for strollers to roast marshmallows and make s’mores. We do not charge for the s’mores, but collect a free-will offering that goes to the Riverside Food Pantry. We will be located at Riverside Garage, always a popular location due to their train set-up. One-hour shifts are available starting at 5:00 p.m., and we also need a few people for set-up (4:00) and take-down (9:00). We need two adults and three scouts per shift. Our leaders for this event are Jim Fedorski and Noretta Griffin. Questions should be directed to fedrockus@yahoo.com.

Merit Badge Counselor Training

Reminder for leaders and parents: Troop 24 needs more Merit Badge Counselors! Boy Scouts can earn merit badges in over 100 subjects, and we know many of you have special skills and knowledge in those subjects from your work, education, hobbies or other life experience. We are seeking adults to work exclusively with Troop 24, helping scouts complete partials from camp, running merit badge classes during troop meetings, or consulting with scouts who want to work on merit badges outside of meetings. To make it easy for Troop 24 adults to be certified as merit badge counselors, we have scheduled an accredited BSA instructor to lead a training during the troop meeting time (7pm) on November 17, 2016 in the church Social Hall. Youth Protection Training (YPT) will also be provided (starting approximately 7:45pm), for those becoming merit badge counselors or other adults who need to renew this training. Refreshments will be served! Please let us know if you plan to attend.

For more information on the Boy Scout Merit Badge program, and to see a list of all current merit badges, click here. http://www.scouting.org/meritbadges.aspx
