Scouting for Food Service Project

There is NO Troop meeting tonight. We hope you are enjoying your spring break!

Service Project this Saturday and next Saturday:
Scouting for Food is the Boy Scouts of America’s nationwide service project to help stop hunger in our communities. It began as a Scout’s service project in St. Louis, MO in 1985 and was adopted by the Boy Scout National Organization in 1988.

Pathway to Adventure Council will hold a council-wide Scouting for Food program that takes place on two consecutive weekends. On the first weekend, Scouts distribute bags or door hangers within their assigned area to let their neighbors know about the drive. On the second weekend, Scouts revisit those houses to pick up nonperishable items. Our Troop will then drop off collected food items at the Riverside Presbyterian Church Little Free Food Pantry. Scouts will receive service hour credit. Scouts and Adult Volunteers sign up at the links below:

Saturday April 2nd from 10 am to noon: Door hanger drop off

Start Thinking about Summer Camp!

Troop 24 will be attending Tesomas Summer Camp July 17-23, 2022. The cost of camp will be $330 per scout, plus an additional bus fee for transportation. Sign-up on our troop website will begin in spring. For those with financial hardship, camperships are available to pay a portion of this cost. Tesomas campership applications are due April 1. Here is a link to the form that parents should submit to be considered: Samoset Campership Application. Troop 24 also has campership money available for scouts with financial hardship who participated in our troop fundraising. Contact Scoutmaster Dave Flassing at flassing@yahoo.com for more information.

Tesomas program registration opens on April 1, and the following programs have limited enrollment. Microtrek and Scuba are available at an additional cost for older scouts who are First Class rank and above. More information is available on the Camp Tesomas website. Email our Troop Camp Coordinator Rachel Schrier ASAP at rachelschrier@hotmail.com if you want to sign up for a Microtrek or Scuba program.

Four merit badge classes have limited enrollment: Climbing, Archery, Rifle Shooting and Shotgun Shooting ($25 additional fee). If you wish to participate in one of these programs, email our Troop Camp Coordinator Rachel Schrier ASAP at rachelschrier@hotmail.com. New scouts will be participating in merit badge classes and programs which do not have limited enrollment. Parents of crossover scouts should attend the parent information meeting our troop will hold this Thursday, March 17 at 7pm to learn more about our troop and summer camp.

Congratulations!

To Troop 24’s newest Eagle Scout, Mateo Cubas.
