Alex C’ Eagle Project
Troop 24’s Alex C is looking for help for his Eagle project this week. Here is some information from Alex:
My project is planting a garden to attract hummingbirds at Patriots’ Park in Riverside.
The garden will also provide a nice view for park goers.
I will be using gladiolus, catmint, allium, hyacinth, and hydrangeas to create this garden.
Volunteers are needed to help pull up a weeds and lay down the plating soil and fertilizer. Then they will plant the bulbs and plants into the ground.
The primary volunteer work day will be July 29. July 30 and July 31 will be added from 8 a.m. to noon if needed. Both adult and scout volunteers are needed. Thank you for your help!

Between the date of July 22-28 I’ll be collecting donations for this project:
Donations could either be needed plants and bulbs – hydrangeas, hyacinth, gladiolus, catmint, allium or money for the purchase of these items.
If donations are plants, it would be preferable if they were already dug out and put into a marked pot with dirt. Plants and bulbs can be left at Patriots’ Park (behind the benches by the bricks with names on them) this week. If you wish to make a donation of money, checks should be made out to Troop 24 (note “Alex’s Eagle project” on memo line) and email committeechair@troop24riverside.com to have your donation picked up.
Volunteer work days will be July 29 to July 31 from 8 a.m. to noon each day, with volunteers working in two hour shifts. Both adult and scout volunteers are needed. Thank you for your help!

Welcome Home Troop 24
We’re Back. What a great week we had!!! Fishing, boating, swimming, merit badges, ATV’s, Micro-Treks,Scuba Diving, campfires, food, and most of all FUN! I trust your scouts will sleep well tonight. But First, if you were one of the lucky scouts that took home equipment to dry and clean, it must be unpacked tonight!! Everything is soaked and will get moldy and mildewy, especially the tents, so please unpack them tonight and hang them to dry.
All equipment and tents are due back to RPC on THURSDAY at 7pm at the garage, Dried, Cleaned and repacked.
Enjoy the last weeks of summer but watch for these posts for announcements about the forthcoming scout year, planning meetings, and exciting scouting adventures to come.
Camp Tesomas Friday
It’s raining, its pouring!! Today certainly was an unforgettable day. Last night all scouts and most leaders made it back to the campsite and into the tents before the deluge began. Heavy rains, but no lighting or thunder allowed for an uninterrupted night of sleep and most activities continue as planned. Thank you Mom and Dad for packing that rain poncho!!! We will see you tomorrow, wet, tired, sunburn, and carrying lifelong memories!!
Camp Tesomas Thursday
Scouts and leaders continue to learn and fine tune important scout and life skills all week. Many boys are finishing up merit badges today due to their hard work and preparation. Opportunities for rank advancement both at Tesomas’ Eagle Quest and with our own leaders have made this an all-around productive week. Leaders had hands-on learning opportunities in advanced skills which will open the way to a wider range of future outings and campouts for our troop. All of this was accomplished in an environment of encouragement, friendship and adventure.
Enjoy these photos as we enjoy our last few days at our beloved Camp Tesomas:
Camp Tesomas Wednesday
Greetings from Camp Tesomas! We once again enjoyed beautiful weather and many fun activities. A good night’s sleep followed an exciting evening of chemistry demonstrations, tomahawk throwing trials and black powder rifle shooting. The morning was cold, but scouts cheered to the news that it was Waffle Wednesday. Hard work at merit badge classes came before afternoon fun of fishing, swimming, board sailing, kayaking and jumping off the inflatable iceberg into Crystal Lake. Many scouts hiked and biked around the camp trails so that they could participate in multiple free time activities. Tonight will be a picnic dinner and the Order of the Arrow call out ceremony.
