Pancake Breakfast – Adult Help Needed

Our primary Troop fundraiser, the Pancake Breakfast is coming up on March 2nd.

In order to make this event as successful as possible, we rely on parents and adult volunteers to help out in the following areas:

Placemat Ad Sponsors
• If you have or know of a local business who would like to make a donation in exchange for a spot on our placemat (as well as prominent locations throughout the Breakfast) please let us know.
• If you would be willing to help collect donations from businesses who have helped us in the past, please let me know. It is extremely simple. You just create an account and then log in to the website – http://everyyear.org – and you’ll see an option to volunteer to solicit donations. Details on how to record donations will be available on the site soon. Email me with questions in the mean time.
• I would like to have the sponsorships wrapped up by February 10th. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions or suggestions.

Shopping for Supplies
• If you know of any vendors who would be willing to make donations, for example orange juice, butter patties, napkins, pitchers, coffee urns, chafing dishes etc. please let me know!
• If you are able to shop for supplies, please sign up on the website and take a look at the list (make sure the “[ ] Show All” checkbox is clicked on the Shopping list page to see what needs to be shopped for).
• Supplies should be purchased by Feburary 28th and delivered to the church during setup. Make sure if you purchase perishables that you have a place to safely store them if you purchase them before that date.

Working the Day Of and Setup
• We will also need volunteers to work the day of (March 2nd, 5:30am – 2:00pm) and during setup (February 28th, 7:00pm – 9:00pm). I will be posting more information about the available jobs in the coming weeks, but if you have any questions, or would like to offer your time for all or part of the day, please let me know and make sure you Register on the website: http://everyyear.org/Identity/Account/Register

Posters and Yard Signs
• If you know of a good location to put up a poster (11×17), let me know! I can make as many as we need. You can email me directly, or use the form on the website. http://everyyear.org/Poster
• If you live in a location in Riverside, or know someone on a prominent corner that would be a good location for a Yard Sign, we have a limited quantity of signs available to place around town. We don’t want to put these up until a week before the Pancake Breakfast. http://everyyear.org/YardSign

Please email any questions or issues with the website (It’s new!) to pancakes@troop24riverside.com
Thanks,

Pancake Breakfast

All Pancake Breakfast Tickets have been distributed. If you were not at the Troop Meeting to collect them, they were mailed to you. If you have not received your tickets in the mail by January 26th, please contact Rich Hosek at pancakes@troop24riverside.com.

Each Scout is responsible for selling 15 tickets for a total of $75. Money can be delivered to Ms. Henderson at 216 Olmsted, or bring it to a Troop Meeting.

Ticket money is due February 14th. If you have not sold all the tickets by then, you can buy them yourself and then continue trying to sell them after that point. If you need MORE tickets to sell, please let me know.

Inside your ticket packet was a slip of paper with your BSA# on it. DO NOT LOSE THIS. Read it carefully. You will need it in the coming weeks to sign up for a work shift. You CANNOT sign up yet, there will be a Feedblitz message in the future that will instruct you how to sign up for work shifts later, but as a reminder, in addition to selling the tickets, you are required to work the day of the Pancake Breakfast, March 2nd. If there is some family or school conflict, please contact me as soon as possible so I can allow you to sign up for Setup on February 28th.

Please email any questions to pancakes@troop24riverside.com

We hope to be visited by a judge and a member of the District 96 Board of Ed on Feb. 7th – more to follow.

More Scouts Needed to Help at Pinewood Derby

A few more scout volunteers are needed to help at the Pack 24 Pinewood Derby on Saturday, January 26, especially for the 1-2 pm and 3-4 pm shifts.

You can read about this volunteer opportunity and sign up here.

Scout Sunday – February 3, 2019

Riverside Presbyterian Church, the charter organization for Troop 24 and Pack 24, invites all scouts, leaders and scout families to attend Worship in celebration of the long standing relationship between RPC and the Boy Scouts on February 3th at 10:00 am.  The service will be followed by coffee fellowship hosted by Troop 24.

The Troop 24 Committee encourages scouts and their families to attend the Scout Sunday service.  It is a chance for many of our scouts to experience worship in a place of different denomination or faith.  Scout Sunday is also an occasion for us to show our appreciation to the members of RPC for their support and use of the church for 80 years.

Scouts who attend will also have the opportunity to earn service hours by participating in either the worship service or in fellowship. Volunteers are needed for the following roles:

  • Ushers: greet people, hand out bulletins, and pass the offering plate. (need 4-6 scouts)
  • Liturgist: Read the scripture lesson and offer a prayer (1-2 scouts)
  • Speakers willing to speak about their scouting experiences and what it has meant to them.  This is ideal for a scout working on their Communication Merit Badge that still needs to complete requirement #3 or a scout who is comfortable speaking in front of people. (need 2-3 scouts)
  • Fellowship Set up (9:00 – 10:00):  Make coffee and lemonade, prepare plates of treats, set out plates, cups and saucers, etc. (need 4 scouts)
  • Fellowship Clean up (12:00 – 12:30): run dishwasher, wash serving plates and coffee pots and wipe tables. (need 4 scouts)

Scouts willing to help – sign up here

We hope all scouts who attend bring something to share during fellowship (e.g. coffee cake, cookies, fruit, cheese & crackers, etc.).

Scouts and Leaders should wear their Class A uniform and merit badge sash.  If you have a Girl Scout or Cub Scout in the family, they are welcome to wear their uniform.  We hope to see you there.

If you have any questions please contact Carrie Staubus at committeechair@troop24riverside.com.
