Youth Training

The following optional training programs are available to Boy Scouts through the Des Plaines Valley Council.

Den Chief Training

Den Chief Training teaches a Boy Scout how to help Cub Scout Den Leaders and Webelos Leaders with the den meetings. A Den Chief helps plan, prepare, and run the meetings.

Bear Paw Junior Leader Training
This conference helps train the troop’s junior leaders in the application of leadership skills. This course is conducted over two weekends, and is advanced training for youth 13 and older.  Youth must complete both weekends.

Life to Eagle Training
After completing the Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, and Life Ranks, a Scout is ready to begin work on his Eagle Scout Badge. That includes earning the required amount of merit badges, completing a service project, and completing a Board of Review. This training identifies the steps required for a Scout to make the transition from Life Scout to Eagle Scout.
