Shadows of Blue and Gray Civil War Re-enactment Campout – Princeton, IL Oct. 7-9, 2022

Hello,

Our next campout is coming up fast (a little less than two weeks away), but it is a good one! We will be camping with actors who perform in the Shadows of the Blue and Gray Civil War Re-enactment ceremony in Princeton, IL.

This is a very interesting opportunity to learn history through an exciting interactive experience that scouts will not forget. This is also a relaxing campout for adults because programming is all taken care of.

Not only will you be able to watch presentations from President Lincoln, General Grant, and a Victorian Tea demonstration in the Main building, but you can also watch while Infantry, Cavalry, and Artillery perform their duties in a narrated mock battle. After the battle, you are invited to watch a surgery in the medical tent, hear the beautiful music from Tank and the Beez outside the Main building, and experience a promotion of a young soldier on Saturday.

There will also be Sutler tents set up for  Scouts to shop in and participate in a scavenger hunt and turn it in at the merchandise table for a prize. Signup forms are below and if you have any issues with the form please email troop24events@gmail.com, thank you!!

Popcorn Fundraiser Information

Hello Troop 24 Scouts and Parents,

I have the privilege of being the Troop 24 Popcorn Kernel, and I welcome you to another year of our Boy Scout fundraising campaign. Troop 24 has offered this opportunity for our scouts to earn money for this year’s scouting events. All sales (order form or online) will give the scouts 1/3 of the money back for use in Troop 24 or PTAC events. Some scouts even paid for their own Tesomas trip last year with popcorn proceeds. We have been distributing the standard order forms at the meetings. I also have some inside a blue folder inside my mailbox at my house for pick-up if needed at 147 S Delaplaine Rd.

This year there is the same popcorn company, Pecatonica River Popcorn, www.prpopcorn.com, and they will be sending all the parents an email and web link for setting up online sales for each individual scout. There are numerous items online and shipping is free! Please set-up and share the link via email or social media to friends and family anywhere in the country. Online sales are an easy way to reach out. If they don’t want popcorn there are military donations as well. If you do not get the email from pops@prpopcorn.com, check your spam/junk folder first, then email me at axponn@gmail.com to correct.

Finally, all order forms and online sales should be completed and turned in to me by Saturday night October 29, 2022 to count toward this year’s totals. I encourage everyone to avoid submitting cash. Please have checks made out to yourself and then consolidate the cash/checks total to one personal check made out to Riverside Troop 24. Product pickup and delivery will be November 12, 2022 weekend. Good luck, get selling, and be safe.

Regards,
Anand Ponnappan
