Please note the CORRECT day for this Board.  It is tomorrow January 28th.  If you can help please email me!

I am looking for 3 adults to sit on an Eagle Board of Review on Thursday, January 28th at 7:00 PM.  Current Eagle Scouts who are 18 are encouraged to volunteer.  Sitting on an Eagle Board it is a very rewarding opportunity to be a part of a Scout’s final step to achieving the rank of Eagle. We will meet at the 12 E. Quincy St. in Riverside.  The time committment is approximately 1-1 1/2 hrs. Masks are required and we will adhere to social distancing rules.

For safety reasons I need to know the number of people who will be in the room so if you are interested please email me at dmgmitro@aol.com.

Klondike Derby

The Klondike will be held Saturday, February 13th [President’s Day weekend] at Centennial Park in Oak Lawn, which can accommodate the skill stations and sled race that make the Klondike a great event.

Exciting Scout-skill challenges include: Search and Rescue/Compass, Hatchet Throw, Nature ID, Knot Challenge, Howling Hitch Log Lift, 2-Man Saw, Ice Rescue, Fire building, Snowball/bean bag toss, and Sled Race.

Notes from Council:
• To keep the event safe during a pandemic, it will be limited to no more than 10 patrols with no more than 8 Scouts per patrol.
• Each skill station will be run by two leaders or older scouts, keeping the total group size to 10.
• If there is interest from more than 10 patrols, reducing the number of skill events will be considered, as well as breaking the Klondike into separate morning and afternoon sessions.
So, Troop 24: if you’d like to get out in the fresh air and have some winter fun, click here to register.

If enough Scouts sign up to field a patrol, we’ll inform Council and provide further details.
