This photo was likely taken on the path that the scouts take every day from our campsite to the dining hall and other activities.

Camp Tesomas does not have the best cell phone reception, and particularly to send photos by e-mail. The photo below was taken on Sunday as the scouts arrived, and shows our Porcupines crew (who were already at Tesomas) helping the scouts unload the bus.

According to our leaders we had 36 scouts at chapel today. Maybe you can recognize the back of your son’s head?

Our scouts & leaders arrived at camp and all is well. We hope to have a few photos to share with you during the week.

Medical Forms
Medical Forms should have already been dropped off to Liz Gomorczak. If you have not done so, we need them BEFORE Sunday.

Weather Forecast
The projected high temperatures next week range from 72 to 86 degrees, with a chance of thunderstorms a couple of days. Pack appropriately.

What to Bring
Scouts should pack so they know where everything is.   Put your scout’s name on everything–AND WE MEAN EVERYTHING! Scouts must wear Class A uniforms (Scout shirts but not neckerchiefs) for travel to and from camp. Bring a wire hanger to hang the shirt during the week.

Be sure to bring insect repellant and long pants & a long-sleeved shirt. When buying insect repellant, be sure it is NON-AEROSOL (aerosol sprays are very flammable, and are not allowed at camp).

Bike & Equipment Drop-Off
Bike drop-off is at 2413 4th Avenue in North Riverside on Thursday, July 23 between 5:00 and 9:00 p.m. Remember to bring a bike helmet, as it is required by Camp Tesomas.

If you have any troop equipment (and ESPECIALLY tents), please bring it to the bike drop-off on Thursday.

Packs/duffels for scouts who are now backpacking in the Porcupines should also be dropped off on Thursday. John Flaherty will be driving to Tesomas on Friday to meet the boys on Saturday.

Medications
Scouts taking medications should bring the meds in the original container in a ziplock bag labeled with the scout’s name.  Joan Janopoulos will be our medical officer during camp.  Please give the bags to her on Sunday.

Money
Scouts riding the bus will need money for lunch on the way to camp (or a sack lunch), and money for lunch on the way home. Remind your scout to save back enough money to eat lunch on the return trip.  Scouts may buy snacks at the Trading Post during the week.  Souvenirs are available as well.

Departure
Meet in parking lot of Hauser (behind the school) at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 26.

Swim Test
Scouts who did not take the swim test in advance will be taking the test almost immediately after arrival.  Bring swim trunks and a towel in a separate bag on the bus.

Return to Riverside
The bus departs camp between 9:00 and 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 1. The scouts arrive back in Riverside in the Hauser parking lot at around 4:30 p.m. They will use leaders’ phones to call as they get close and/or a Feedblitz will go out letting parents know when to meet the bus in the Hauser parking lot.

Anyone who has any troop equipment, please return it to Tom Hartwig during the time for bike drop-off, which is this Thursday, July 23, from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at 2413 S. 4th Avenue in North Riverside.

We especially will need every tent since we have 49 scouts attending summer camp.

We need some help from parents or leaders for the bicycle inspection on Friday evening, July 17. Please respond to Tom Hartwig at thartwig@olparks.com if you are able to help. Please meet at 360 Nuttall in Riverside. We are starting at 4:30 and going until 8:30. If you can come later than 4:30, after work, that’s fine too.
