Save the date for Troop 24’s April campout, which is at the Indiana Dunes State Park. The dates for this campout are April 14-16; be on the lookout for the signup, which will be out tomorrow!

Troop 24 is planning a group outing to the Railroading Merit Badge program on Saturday, June 3rd at the Lionel Train House in New Lenox. This will be an all day activity and we will meet early at Riverside Presbyterian Church to carpool. The cost is $20 and includes lunch. This is a limited enrollment program, and we will register the troop as a group. Please let us know if you will attend:

Troop 24 will be attending Tesomas Summer Camp July 16-22, 2023. Here is the link to the Camp Tesomas website so you can read all about camp and see what programs and merit badges are offered: Camp Tesomas Website. The cost of camp will be $370 per scout, plus an additional bus fee for transportation. Our troop is already registered for summer 2023 – individual scout sign-up on our troop website will begin in spring. For those with financial hardship, camperships are available to pay a portion of this cost. Tesomas campership applications are due April 1. Troop 24 also has campership money available for scouts with financial hardship who participated in our troop fundraising. Tesomas program registration opens on March 15, and some programs have limited enrollment. Microtrek and Scuba are available at an additional cost for older scouts who are First Class rank and above. More information is available on the Camp Tesomas website. Email our Troop Camp Coordinator Rachel Schrier ASAP at rachelschrier@hotmail.com if you want to sign up for a Microtrek or Scuba program.

Some merit badge classes have limited enrollment: Climbing, Lifesaving, Kayaking, Canoeing, Small Boat Sailing, Archery, Rifle Shooting and Shotgun Shooting ($30 additional fee). If you wish to participate in one of these programs, email our Troop Camp Coordinator Rachel Schrier ASAP (before March 15 if possible) at rachelschrier@hotmail.com. Parents of crossover scouts should attend the parent information meeting our troop will hold Thursday, March 16 at 7pm to learn more about our troop and summer camp.

The following message is for Troop 24 scouts in 8th grade or older and Troop leaders:
Hello Adventure Seekers,

The Troop 24 High Adventure trek is set and you are invited.  This summer we will be backing the pristine trails of Isle Royale from July 9 to July 15.  The cost will be $850 per person.  Camp Tesomas will provide the camping gear and you are responsible for your personal gear.  Scouts that are First Class and have graduated 8th grade are eligible.  Trained Leaders are also eligible.  

The Crew will consist of 10 people: 1 Tesomas Leader, 1 Troop 24 Leader (minimum), 8 Troop 24 Scouts (maximum).

A deposit of $200 will be accepted starting Thursday March 9 at the troop meeting.  After that checks may be left with me or placed in my mail box at 420 Herrick Road, Riverside.  Please send me an email or text that you have done so.  We will keep track of when deposits are made because we have a limited number of participants on the trek.  We may have a wait list so we need to know who paid and in what order.  Any Leader interested in going must make a payment as well.  The balance of the cost will be due on May 1.
