Skating Merit Badge Reminders

Scouts who will be working on the Skating Merit Badge MUST bring a printed out copy of the Skating Merit Badge Workbook (available online here) and a pen or pencil to tonight’s troop meeting. If you have the Skating merit badge booklet (available at the LaGrange Scout Store), please bring that also. Thank you!

Troop Meeting – Thursday, March 14

At our troop meeting Thursday, we’ll have several activities. Please be prompt and arrive by 7pm in the gym.

Mr. Robertson will begin Skating merit badge with those who signed up.

Quartermasters will inventory the troop trailer to identify needed gear/supplies in preparation for spring camp-outs.

Friday night Cantigny campers will plan menus!

Patrols will have the opportunity to decide on whether to keep their current name [Bandits/Iceberg/Nuclear Octopi/Spartans/24th Garrison/Zulu + Alpha/Delta/Bravo for the Crossovers] … or … think up a new one that reflects the personality of their patrol.
If you decide on a new name, then a new flag is in order, so you can begin drafting your concept for your flag. Perhaps there’s an artist in your Patrol!

Finally, you’ll work on a Patrol “cheer.”

We’ll continue Scout skills with continued rope-work, in preparation for warmer weather and Spring camp-outs.

Crossovers: whipping/fusing ropes/lines
Scout-to-Second Class: Knot-work [square/two-half-hitches/taut-line hitch/sheet bend/bowline] First Class: Lashings [shear/square/diagonal] & Hitches [clove/timber] Star & Above: Advanced rope-work: use lashings, knots and hitches to devise a useful camp-site tool.

All followed by Round II of the Dodgeball Tournament!

Parents of new scouts, please send the Joiner fee ($40), BSA Youth Membership form and BSA Medical Form Parts A and B.

Finally, while we’re holding Troop activities, Mr. Flaherty and Mrs. Staubus will be hosting a “linked” Girl Troop info session in the Social Hall. Does anyone have sisters?
