On Saturday, October 19, the Riverside-North Riverside Covenant of Churches is sponsoring a food packaging project to create nutritious meals for families in our communities. Scouts will receive service hour credit for participating. There is a cost to participate (minimum donation of $10 per person; or a recommended donation of $25, which will purchase ingredients for 100 meals). To participate, please register as early as possible this week.

Time:  1 hour shifts from 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

This project is pre-approved, so you do not need a scoutmaster signature in advance; however, scouts should take the Troop service hour form to their shift(s) and have an adult in charge sign the form and note the number of hours worked. Mississippi Palisades State Park Campout

October 25 – 27, 2013

Join Troop 24  for a relaxing  weekend of camping and hiking at Mississippi Palisades State Park in Savanna, IL . Untouched by glaciers that left their mark elsewhere in the state, Mississippi Palisades State Park is rich with rock formations carved by erosion. Enjoy the beautiful color of the wooded palisades of the Mississippi River in October and explore extensive hiking trails first walked by Native Americans.

Departing: RPC at 12:30 PM on Friday Oct 25 (there is no school that day in Riverside/N. Riverside)

Returning: ~Noon to RPC on Sunday Oct. 27

Cost: $25/scout

We are entering the final week for our Scouts to sell Popcorn. All order forms are due on October 17. Last chance to ask family, neighbors, co-workers and friends if they’d like to support Scouting through the purchase of Popcorn.

Remember, 30% of YOUR SCOUT’S individual sales total (take orders and internet purchases) will directly be credited to next year’s summer camp fees. This goes a long way to assist families in bringing down the cost of Camp Tesomas. The more you sell, the closer you are to attending camp free of charge!

If your Scout is ready to turn in their completed order forms, please do so tonight after a parent reviews the totals and writes a check for the amount of cash collected.
