Isle Royale Crew: 5-mile Hike

Isle Royale Crew: Your High Adventure is just two weeks away! Are you ready to hike?

  • Backpacking is physically, mentally and emotionally demanding. Each person will carry a 35 to 50 lb. pack while hiking 5 to 12 miles per day in an isolated mountain wilderness.
  • Participants are encouraged to do several practice hikes before attending. You are expected to arrive in good physical condition and be ready for five strenuous and fun filled days of hiking.

The Isle Royale crew will meet on Saturday, June 25, at 10:00 a.m. at RPC for a five-mile hike. Bring your 35-50 lb pack, hiking shoes and walking stick.

4th of July Booth Sign-Up 2016

We need help with our annual pizza booth at Riverside’s 4th of July celebration. This is our second largest fundraiser. We need scouts AND parents! Please sign up for one of the shifts below. Camp Tesomas Bus and Bike Fees Due

Troop 24 has chartered a motorcoach bus to transport scouts to Camp Tesomas and back. This is a comfortable, air-conditioned bus with DVD players and a bathroom. The fee is $100 per scout round-trip (sorry no discount for one-way travel). If you have more than one scout, additional scouts in the same family are $75. We will also provide bicycle transport to camp for a cost of $15. We recommend that all scouts bring their bicycles due the size and layout of the camp. T-Shirt Sign-up Problem

Due to a computer glitch, anyone who signed up for a t-shirt yesterday will need to sign up again. You can check the “Upcoming Events” page on our website to see if your scout’s name is listed as having signed up. Swim Test Sign-up

All scouts attending summer camp at Tesomas and adults attending Tesomas who intend to boat or swim, should plan to take the Boy Scout swim test. The swim test is required every year, not just for new scouts. Everyone who intends to swim must take the test.

The swim test will be offered for Troop 24 members at the Pav YMCA on the following dates:

Monday June 20 at 7pm
Wednesday June 22 at 7pm
Tuesday June 28 at 4pm
Thursday June 30 at 4pm

The Pav YMCA is located at 2947 Oak Park Ave. in Berwyn. When you arrive, let the front desk staff know that you are there for the Boy Scout swim test (you do not need to purchase a guest pass). Then proceed to the pool where you will check in with troop leaders and Scott Johnson, the YMCA aquatics director.

If you do not attend one of these test dates, you will be asked to take the test upon arrival at Camp Tesomas or you will be designated a non-swimmer.

Need T-Shirt Sizes for Tesomas

Every year the Troop provides t-shirts for scouts (and adults) going to camp. Your scout will come home wearing a clean shirt, even if everything else is dirty! There is no cost to the scout family. Please let us know what size t-shirt your scout (or you if you are going as a leader) will need. Please fill out the form for EACH scout in your family, and each adult going to camp:
