Scout Sunday 2019 FORM

Troop Meeting – Thursday, January 10

“On my Honor, I will do my best to do my duty to … my country.”

Let’s start off the New Year with an exploration of Citizenship during the winter months, in anticipation of other kinds of Scoutcraft as we warm up toward Spring.

We’ll begin with a combination of Citizenship activities spanning 4 merit badges and the First Class requirements.

You may have already begun some of these badges, but should have the opportunity to fill in some gaps.

We’ll also invite one or two guest speakers from the community during the coming weeks, to give you the opportunity to hear about “government at work” and ask questions.

If you have the chance, you can download merit badge worksheets via the link below.

More Scouts Needed for Klondike Derby 1/12/2019

Scouts who are NOT attending the Camp Wokanda Cabin Campout should consider attending the Klondike Derby on Saturday, January 12. The Klondike Derby is a traditional Boy Scout event held on winter weekends around the world. The Voyageur Trace District plans the event at the Bemis Woods to bring together troops from our local area for an outdoor competition testing scout skills and knowledge. The competition ends with a sled race through the woods. Our troop has won this competition several times in the past few years and always has a fun time win or lose. Although the event is usually on a cold day, scouts will stay warm with campfires and lots of hot cocoa and soup. Our sled (and leaders) are ready and waiting for a patrol for scouts to sign up.

Please let us know you’ll be there!

Help Needed with Pinewood Derby – January 26th

Pack 24’s annual Pinewood Derby will be held at Riverside Presbyterian Church gym on Saturday, January 26, and they are seeking help from our scouts. Any Troop 24 scout that wishes to work a one hour shift will earn a service hour, and will also have lunch or a treat, courtesy of the pack.

Our scouts will be managing the race by setting up the pinewood cars, and retrieving them to bring back to the starting gates. Boy Scouts may also help supervise the movie room.

Shifts are available in one-hour blocks starting at 1:00pm. The racing is expected to wrap up at 3:00pm so the last shift will help with clean up.

Thanks in advance for your help. Click here to sign up today.

Volunteers needed for an Eagle Board of Review

I am looking for 3-4 adults to sit on an Eagle Board of Review on Thursday January 10th at 7:00 PM. Sitting on an Eagle Board it is a very rewarding opportunity to be a part of a Scout’s final step to achieving the rank of Eagle. If you have not sat on an Eagle Board before I can provide you with some resources to familiarize your self with topics that are discussed at the Board. Additionally, the Board is run by our Council Representative. We will meet at the Riverside Presbyterian Church. The time committment is approximately 1 to 1- 1/2 hours.

If you are interested please email me at dmgmitro@aol.com.

Thank you,

Dawn Gmitro
