The Indiana Dunes outing has been changed.  It will leave at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, 12/13, and return on Sunday, 12/14.  Permission slips are due by Thursday, 12/4. If your scout wants to go, please consider going on the outing–we need parents!  If we don’t have enough parent volunteers, the outing will be canceled.  A permission slip is available here.

Put these dates on your calendars!  As always, we will need parents to drive and be leaders!

Our December outing will be camping in the Indiana Dunes State Park, from 12/12 thru 12/14.  The Dunes are always a favorite with the scouts, and we haven’t camped here for a few years.  A permission slip is available here.

Our January outing will be a lock-in at the new UIC swimming facility, with sports, games, movies, rock-climbing, swimming, and a lazy river!  It will be from 9:00 p.m. on Friday, 1/9/09, thru 9:00 a.m. on 1/10, with various troops from the Voyageur Trace District.  A permission slip is available here.

Our November outing is orienteering at  Waterfall Glen on Saturday, 11/15, leaving at 8:00 and returning around 1:00 p.m.  This outing is for first year scouts, any scout who needs to complete orienteering, and any scout who wants to come!  Scouts going orienteering must attend meetings on 11/6 and 11/13 with their compass–there will be training at these meetings.  For the outing they must bring a compass and a sack lunch.  The permission slip is due by Thursday, 11/13.

Our October outing will be to the Fox River Preserve in Lake County, leaving Saturday morning at 8:00, returning on Sunday.  See http://www..cfpd.org/preserves for information.  Cost is $15, permission slips are due Thursday, 10/2.  As always, drivers are needed!  Please indicate on your scout’s permission slip if you can drive.

The Illini Jamboree is this weekend! We still have 7 tickets left! Contact Pat Rohm if you’re interested!

The deadline for Illini Jamboree  permission slip and $60 is this Thursday. 9/4, the first scout meeting.  Scouts will leave Riverside Presbyterian Church at 5:30 on Friday, 9/12, and return on Sunday, 9/14.  Scouts will camp at Rantoul Air Force Base and see an Illini football game!  We have 30 tickets total, including adults, and 11 tickets left. 

Troop 24 has made reservations for 30 at the Illini Jamboree, in Rantoul, IL from 9/12 through 9/14. The highlight of this outing is seeing an Illini game! For this reason, the cost is $60.00. The permission slip is due no later than Thursday, 9/4, our first meeting. Once the 30 slots are filled, no more will be accepted, so get your permission slip to Pat Rohm ASAP! Save the date: Voyageur Trace Camporee is 10/10 – 10/12. The theme is Olympics!

The permission slip for the Shabbonah Lake Father’s Day outing on 6/13-15 is due tomorrow night, 5/29, at the Court of Honor.  This will be our last troop meeting.  Full uniform is required, and a scout must have an adult present to advance.

The deadline for the Forestry outing is this Thursday, 5/8.  If your scout is not coming to the meeting (please see the scoutmaster’s e-mail) he can bring the permission slip with him to the outing.  It is from 9 to 12 at Scottswood Commons in Riverside.  Scottswood Commons is the green space that runs down the middle of Scottswood.  Please notify a leader when you drop your scout and when you pick him up, and give them the permission slip.  If your scout has other commitments he can work at any time in the 9 to 12 timeframe.  He should wear his uniform or the troop 24 t-shirt, wear work gloves and bring a water bottle.

The May 10 outing is open to all scouts, whether or not they are working on the forestry badge.  As with all outings, we will need parents to help.  Please let Pat know if you can help at darohms@att.net.
