Cardboard Needed for Pancake Breakfast

We are seeking large sheets of cardboard for the Pancake Breakfast. We cover the floor of the RPC kitchen with cardboard so the floor will not be slick if pancake batter is spilled, and to make clean-up easier. Appliance boxes, or any other large boxes, are ideal. We need them by Thursday, March 3, when we do the set-up for the breakfast. It would help if you could let our Pancake chairs know in advance if you have some. Contact Rich Hosek at pancakes@troop24riverside.com.

Pancake Breakfast Work Assignments

Dear Scouts & Parents,

The Pancake Breakfast, our largest Troop fundraiser, is on Saturday, March 5. This event, which has been held at RPC for over 60 years, provides most of the funds needed for troop equipment and other expenses. All scouts are required to work a shift–either at the breakfast or during set-up or clean-up. Download the work schedule: 2016 Pancake Scout Work Schedule.

If you have an unavoidable conflict, please contact Tom Hartwig at thartwig@olparks.com BEFORE Friday, February 26, and he will assist in arranging a trade to a different timeslot. After Friday, if you cannot work the time you are assigned, it is your responsibility to find another scout to trade. Please help us make this the best pancake breakfast ever! You can turn in Pancake ticket money at the Troop meeting on Thursday.

Pancake E-Mail Address

Correction: The e-mail address for the Pancake Breakfast should be pancakes@troop24riverside.com (pancakes plural, rather than pancake).

Pancake Breakfast Placemat Ads

Parents and friends of Troop 24: Each year for the pancake breakfast, we solicit local businesses for support by selling ads on the placemats we use at the breakfast. If you have a local business and would like to support us, our have friends or family who own or manage a local business, or are willing to help out to recruit new businesses, please contact Rich Hosek at pancakes@troop24riverside.com for information, posters, sample placemats and donation forms.

Pancake Breakfast Tickets

The annual Scout Pancake Breakfast is Saturday, March 5. Although we don’t know exactly how long the scouts have held the Pancake Breakfast, there is mention of it in the RPC Annual Report for 1961. The Pancake Breakfast is the Troop’s major fundraiser. Our Pancake Breakfast Chairs this year are Rich Hosek and Nina Henderson.

Pancake breakfast tickets will be distributed at this week’s troop meeting. If you cannot attend the meeting, please have someone pick up the tickets for you, or contact Nina Henderson to arrange to pick them up from her. Each packet contains 15 tickets. Each registered scout is required to sell all 15 tickets and to return the $75 by Thursday, February 25. The payment may be made in cash, checks, or a combination. All checks should be made out to “Boy Scout Troop 24”. The payments can be dropped off at a Troop meeting, or to Nina Henderson.

Each scout will also be required to work a shift at the breakfast which is on Saturday, March 5, or at the set-up night Thursday, March 3, if there is an unavoidable conflict for Saturday. If your scout has a conflict for a particular time on Saturday, or if he can only work Thursday, please contact us at pancakes@troop24riverside.com with the details and we will do our best to schedule around it.

Thank you all for your support of our main troop fundraiser. The pancake breakfast funds are used for all troop equipment purchases and other general troop expenses throughout the year.

No Troop Meeting Thursday

REMINDER: Due to set-up for Pancake Breakfast, there is no regular Troop meeting this Thursday, March 5. Those scouts who are assigned to set-up as their job for Pancake Breakfast should be at RPC promptly at 7:00. You have already received your job assignment; please be sure you know what you are supposed to be doing. If you have not turned in your Pancake Breakfast money, Mrs. Jones will be at RPC on Thursday to collect it.

Pancake Breakfast in 6 Days!

Troop 24 — are you ready? The Pancake Breakfast is only 6 days away! As of today all of you have received your work assignment schedule and job instructions packets. If you were not at last Thursday’s meeting then it was dropped off to your house this weekend — if no one was at home, it was placed in the mailbox. Be sure that you have read your instructions prior to the date of the breakfast. Here is the final scout schedule: Pancake Scout Schedule. If you switch with someone, please be sure to email Sue Jones so the schedule can be updated.

Turn in Pancake Money on Thursday

Scouts: The last day to turn in your $75 payment to cover your required sales of your 15 Pancake Breakfast Tickets is this Thursday, 2/26, at the Scout Meeting. The scout schedule and each scout’s job assignment/instruction packets will also be passed out during the meeting.

Pancake Breakfast: No Conflict with Merit Badge Academy

Several scouts have told Sue Jones that they are not able to work at the Pancake Breakfast because they are attending the Council’s Merit Badge Academy. The Merit Badge Academy is March 14, and the Pancake Breakfast is March 7. The Council is sponsoring a First Aid Meet on March 7; however, Troop 24 will not be participating in this event. The Pancake Breakfast is our most important fundraiser of the year and we need help from every scout. If you have an unavoidable conflict you can ask Mrs. Jones to be placed on the set-up crew to work on Thursday night, March 5.

Pancake Breakfast Tickets

At the troop meeting last Thursday, pancake breakfast tickets were given to the scouts present. Please check with your scout to be sure they are not misplaced. Each packet contains 15 tickets. Each registered scout is required to sell all 15 tickets and to return the $75 to Sue Jones, the Troop 24 Pancake Breakfast Chairman, by Thursday, Februaty 26. The payment may be made in cash, checks, or a combination. All checks need to be made out to “Boy Scout Troop 24”.

Each scout will also be required to work a shift at the breakfast which is on Saturday, March 7, or at the set-up night Thursday, March 5, if there is an important conflict for Saturday. If your scout has a conflict for a particular time on Saturday or if he can only work Thursday, please email Sue Jones sue_jones@designpac.com with the details and we will do our best to schedule around it. Thank you all for your support of our main troop fundraiser. The pancake breakfast funds are used for all troop equipment purchases and other general troop expenses throughout the year.
