Need Refreshments for Court of Honor

We need refreshments to feed the hungry hordes at our Court of Honor this Thursday, November 5. Maritza Guttierez kindly volunteered to coordinate this, and we have volunteers to help set up and clean-up. If you can bring food, please e-mail Maritza at gutierrezmaritza16@yahoo.com. Suggestions are cookies, brownies, fruit, cheese & crackers, veggies & dip, hummus or guacamole & chips. We need lots!

Food Pantry Donations: November 5

We invite all scout families to bring food items to our November 5 Court of Honor, to be donated to the Riverside Township Food Pantry. They need all types of non-perishable food items–soups, vegetables, etc. as well as paper products. We will have a basket available at the door for you to drop off your donations. Thanks for your help!

Can You Loan a Backpack Stove?

jetboil

At the Waterfall Glen outing on November 7, we will need a number of light-weight backpacking stoves. Do you have one we could borrow? If so, please let Nancy know (nmhopkins1@comcast.net). Thanks!

Court of Honor Thursday, November 5

In place of our usual Thursday troop meeting, there will be a Court of Honor on November 5, starting at 7:00 p.m. in the RPC Social Hall (downstairs).

Wikipedia’s definition of a BSA Court of Honor: “In the Boy Scouts of America a court of honor is a troop activity where scouts and their families come together to get their awards, and have a good time together. It is important for the scouts family members to be there for their scouts receiving his rank advancement, merit badges, and other awards.”

Troop 24 holds 2 Courts of Honor each year–one in the fall and one in the spring. We expect that all scouts participate in these events.

We also ask that each scout have at least one parent or grandparent present. Parents as well as scouts come forward when rank advancements are announced, and it’s sad when a scout has to stand up there alone.

Need Parent Help on November 5

To all Troop 24 parents:
We need one volunteer (or two if you want to work as a team) to coordinate our refreshments at the November 5 Court of Honor. It will involve set-up and clean-up and you will have help. This is a perfect opportunity for a parent who doesn’t like to camp, or who does not have time to participate regularly in meetings, to assist the troop. If you are willing to be that person, please e-mail Nancy Hopkins at nmhopkins1@comcast.net.
