The Holiday Stroll is back!

Scouts & adults are needed for our annual s’mores tent at Riverside’s Holiday Stroll Friday, December 1. We provide ingredients and a campfire to roast marshmallows and make s’mores. We do not charge for the s’mores, but collect a free-will offering that will go to the Riverside Presbyterian Church mission ministries. Because the donations collected will go to help those in need, service hours will be given.
We will be located at Riverside Garage, which will also host a Petting Zoo. We need two adults and three or four scouts per one-hour shift, starting at 5:00 p.m. We also need a few people for set-up (4:00) and take-down (8:00).

Scouts who joined before 8/1/2023: it is time to renew your BSA scout membership. The cost for 2024 is $110 per scout. For the second Troop 24 scout in a family, the fee is $95. This includes amounts our troop must pay per member to the BSA National and Council Offices. Please pay online as soon as possible. Scouts who joined for the first time after 8/1/2023 – BSA National will email you requesting payment when you are due for renewal.

In the past Troop 24 has subsidized the cost of BSA dues for our adult volunteer leaders. A fee is required for each member, including our Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters and Troop Committee Members. This is a considerable cost to the troop. Please consider making a donation to our troop, so we can continue to subsidize our leaders who volunteer so much of their time. Thank you for your support of Troop 24!

The Hofmann Dam River Rats Annual Fall River Clean-Up
Sunday, October 29
9 am to noon

Join the dedicated Hofmann Dam River Rats in their semi-annual litter cleanup along the banks of the Des Plaines River. Enjoy the outdoors and learn about the river while helping your local natural areas.

*Disposable gloves, bags, refreshments and training will be provided
*Dress for the weather and to work along the river. Wear sturdy shoes/boots, long sleeves and long pants that can get dirty, and work gloves. Dressing in layers and wearing a hat is recommended.
*Overflow parking is available at Stella’s (3903 Joliet Ave, Lyons)

Meet at the forest preserve area east of the Lyons side of the Barrypoint Bridge and the Hofmann Tower.

Work will include removing trash from the DesPlaines River bank.
The Hofmann River Rats is a registered not-for-profit organization, service hours will be given.

This is a great campout to finish up rank requirements and try out the indoor climbing wall. Parents, this is he perfect location to stop by and see what these scout campouts are all about, if you are considering chaperoning sometime. It is so close you wouldn’t even need to stay the night:)
