Bring Books to Meeting

Scouts who have not yet attained 1st Class rank are reminded to bring their books to the Troop meeting on Thursday. We need to update books with requirements completed at summer camp.

RPC Dinner & Auction September 30

RPC invites all scout families to a Italian Dinner on September 30, with both silent and live auctions. The cost is up to you, as a “free will” donation will be taken. Reservations are required so the appropriate amount of food is prepared. RSVP to Cindy Gustafson at c.gustafson@sbcglobal.net or to the church office (447-1520 or rpcoffice@sbcglobal.net).

Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m., with the live auction beginning at 6:00 p.m. Bids open for the silent auction at 4:00 p.m.

Print the invitation.

Parents: Check your Scout’s Shirt

A uniform shirt was left at the scout cabin (Adult S, no rank badge, Arrow of Light badge pinned on). Another scout is missing a shirt, but a different size. We suspect that a scout (probably a 6th grader) took the wrong shirt home. Please, if your scout attended the meeting last Friday, check his shirt to be sure he has the correct one.

Parents: Please label scout clothing and equipment. We had a couple of boys whose shoes went home on the wrong feet last year (and one pair was never returned). The uniforms all look the same. The only way to tell them apart is by labeling them.

Please contact Nancy Hopkins at nmhopkins1@comcast.net if you find that your scout has the wrong shirt.

One Scout Spot left for Farmer’s Market

We still have space for ONE scout to sell popcorn at the Riverside Farmer’s Market on 9/19, after school until 5:30 p.m. Contact Nancy Hopkins at nmhopkins1@comcast.net to sign up.

Parents are still welcome as well, for any shirt. Contact Nancy to sign up.

Popcorn Kick-Off

At our troop meeting on Thursday, popcorn order forms will be distributed to our scouts. All scouts are encouraged to sell popcorn. All of the popcorn profit (30% of the sales price) is allocated to the scout in the form of a credit that can be used for scouting activities, such as summer camp.

This year, our Troop will also participate in a Show and Sell at the Riverside Farmer’s Market on the following two Wednesdays. Twelve scouts can participate. Scouts can sign up on a first-come, first-served basis. (Parents are welcome to assist with their scout.) Shifts are as follows:

September 12 – after school to 5:30 – 3 Scouts, 1-2 Adults
September 12 – 5:30 to 7:30 – 3 Scouts, 1-2 Adults

September 19 – after school to 5:30 – 3 Scouts, 1-2 Adults
September 19 – 5:30 to 7:30 – 3 Scouts, 1-2 Adults

Sign up for a shift here:

Adults Sign-up

Scouts are to wear their Class A uniforms (shirt, neckerchief, slide, and hat). Questions can be directed to our Popcorn Kernel, Anne K at amkodama@sbcglobal.net.

Your scout can earn the entire cost of summer camp, and more, through his efforts at selling popcorn!

Scout Shirt left at Cabin

One of our scouts left a uniform shirt at the Scout Cabin: Adult Small, no rank insignia, Arrow of Light badge safety-pinned to the front. There is a red neckerchief (black trim) with the uniform. This is likely a shirt belonging to a 6th grade scout. If this is your shirt, please contact Nancy Hopkins at nmhopkins1@comcast.net.

Camp Inferno trip – We need drivers!!

For our Camp Inferno outing, we have 24 scouts signed up and only 4 adults with 16 seats in cars.  We need two more adults (at least 8 more seat belts)  who would be willing participate and drive for this outing.  The cost for adults is $0.  Please consider volunteering for this exciting outing so that we are not forced to cut scouts from the event.

Dates: September 28-30, 2012
Location: Rhodes France Scout Reservation, Pana, IL
Leaders/Adults: Register here by September 9
Scouts: Register here by September 9
