Holiday Stroll Updated (Again) 9:00 a.m.

Sorry for the frequent Feedblitz messages, but this is the easiest way to keep the list up-to-date for everyone. The following is an updated list of the slots we still need to fill for the Holiday Stroll, tonight, at Riverside Garage. We now need only workers for the 7:30-8:00 and 8:00-8:30 timeslots. (If we can fill up the 7:30-8:00 shift, and leave the last shift unfilled, that would be OK, as traffic will be less, and we may have run out of ingredients by that time anyway.) Please e-mail Nancy Hopkins to sign up for a shift:

Holiday Stroll: Scouts Needed

The Troop will be providing s’mores to passersby at the Riverside Holiday Stroll on December 2. We’ll be stationed near Riverside Garage, and we need 3 scouts for every 1/2 hour shift beginning at 5:30 p.m. If your scout is able to help, please have him sign up at the Troop meeting tonight, or e-mail Nancy Hopkins at nmhopkins1@comcast.net.

Musekegon Luge Update

A few parents have asked about the weight of the luge sleds. We don’t know the exact weight, but it’s probably around 30 pounds. Luge participants must be able to carry the luge to the top of the track. If you or your scout wants to see a video of the luge, visit: http://www.msports.org/. The complex also has a skating rink ($8 for pass & skate rental) for those who get tired of the luge. We have 9 scouts signed up, but so far no adults/leaders. Obviously, we can’t provide the outing unless we have some adults sign up. If your scout is going, please consider whether you would be able to attend as well. There is no cost for leaders’ lodging or food, but if you plan to luge, the adult cost is $40.

Holiday Stroll – Leader Needed

The scouts have been invited to participate in the Riverside Holiday Stroll on December 2 at Riverside Garage. We will have a fire pit and fire, and the Troop Committee had discussed having ingredients for s’mores. We are not intending this to be a fundraiser, but a “community event.” We could take donations for the s’mores to be given to the Riverside Food Pantry. What we need at this point is an adult to take charge. If you are available, please contact Nancy Hopkins ASAP at nmhopkins1@comcast.net

Eagle Scouts

Congratulations to our newest Eagle Scouts: Ben C, Brian R, Nick R, Cody V. From the classes of 2010 and 2011, 24 boys became 5th grade boy scouts. Twelve of those went on to become Eagle Scouts. For the years for which we have statistics (back to 2002), our cumulative total shows that 46% of our scouts have attained the Eagle rank. Our records are likely not complete, but we know that we have had at least 72 Eagle Scouts from Troop 24, since the time the Troop was formed in 1917. The highest number of Eagle scouts (6 each year) were in 1931, 1932, and 2010. Pictured above are all our Eagle Scouts since 2009, with the exception of Austin M, who was not present for the picture. For a list of our Eagle scouts, see http://troop24riverside.com/our-eagle-scouts/.
