Millbrook Horseback Riding Campout – May 20-22, 2022

The popular Millbrook Horseback Riding Campout is back, this year on May 20-22, 2022! We will be camping, riding, hiking, and relaxing in Newark, IL, about an hour from Chicago.

Scout Sign-up

Adult Chaperone and Leader Sign-up

There are two options – Scouts can choose to camp and participate in the trail ride only or choose to take the Horseback Merit badge class. NOTE… for younger scouts or scouts without experience with horses, we recommend choosing the trail-ride only option. The Horseback Merit badge test is difficult and we want everyone to have a great experience this weekend. There is a minimum requirement of five Scouts to sign up to get the merit badge in order to hold the class. We will refund the extra cost if we don’t meet the class minimum.

You can find more information on the MILLBROOK TRAIL RIDES WEBSITE

Eagle Court of Honor this Sunday

Reminder – All scouts, leaders and Troop 24 family members are invited to attend the Eagle Scout Court of Honor for Mateo Cubas, Zach Hosek, Carl Lukas, Steven Sanduski and Thomas Snyder. The ceremony will take place Sunday, May 1 at 2pm at the Riverside Presbyterian Church, with a reception to follow the ceremony. Scouts are needed to participate in the the flag ceremony and as candle lighters. New scouts and their parents are especially encouraged to attend this inspirational event. Scouts and leaders who will participate in the ceremony should arrive at 1:45.

Adult Volunteers needed for an Eagle Board of Review

I am in need of 3-4 adults to sit on an Eagle Board of Review on Tuesday, May 3 at 7:00 PM at the Riverside Presbyterian Church. Current Eagle Scouts who are 18 are encouraged to volunteer.  Sitting on an Eagle Board is a very rewarding opportunity to be a part of a Scout’s final step to achieving the rank of Eagle. No experience is necessary.  If you have not sat on an Eagle Board previously I can provide you with resources to familiarize yourself with topics that are discussed at the Board.  Additionally, the Board is run by our Council Representative. The time commitment is approximately 1-1 1/2 hrs.

If you are available to help please RSVP by email me at dmgmitro@aol.com.

Thank you,

Dawn Gmitro
