Eagle Board of Review – Adult Volunteers Needed

I am in need of 3-4 adults to sit on an Eagle Board of Review on Monday, March 7 at 7:00 PM at the Riverside Presbyterian Church. Current Eagle Scouts who are 18 are encouraged to volunteer.  Sitting on an Eagle Board is a very rewarding opportunity to be a part of a Scout’s final step to achieving the rank of Eagle. No experience is necessary.  If you have not sat on an Eagle Board previously I can provide you with resources to familiarize yourself with topics that are discussed at the Board.  Additionally, the Board is run by our Council Representative. The time commitment is approximately 1-1 1/2 hrs.  Wearing a mask is recommended.

If you are available to help please RSVP by email me at dmgmitro@aol.com.

Thank you,

Dawn Gmitro
Troop 24 Eagle Committee

Pancake Breakfast News

The Pancake Breakfast is rapidly approaching! It is Saturday, March 5th.

Each scout is responsible for selling 15 tickets at $6 each for a total of $90. You should have received tickets in the mail if you didn’t get them at a troop meeting. If you do not have your tickets, contact Rich Hosek at pancakes@troop24riverside.com . Either drop the tickets money off at the address in the packet, or bring it to the pancake breakfast and give it to the cashiers in an envelope.

Each scout is responsible for working a shift the day of the Pancake Breakfast. Instructions for signing up are included in your ticket packet. We will be opening up the signup Saturday afternoon. If there is a valid excuse that your scout cannot work one of the shifts (we do have early one if you have plans later in the day) you can send in a request to Rich Hosek at pancakes@troop24riverside.com and request permission to sign up to work the setup on Thursday, March 3rd.

Scouts may sign up for multiple shifts, and if they sign up on the day of the pancake breakfast, they can also sign up for setup on Thursday.

Adult volunteers are needed as well. You can sign up at http://everyyear.org and select a shift from the Adult Work Schedule. Go to the Adult Login page. If you don’t have a login, click on the register link. Once you sign in you’ll see a link to sign up for a job shift.

If you have a yard that is a good location to post a yard sign, please request one on the http://everyyear.org site. Same goes for if you have a business where we can display a poster.

Keep an eye out for further announcements as the even gets closer!

Winter Tesomas 2022 – President’s Day Weekend, February 19-21

It’s almost time for our annual trek back up to Tesomas Scout Camp President’s Day weekend!  Join our group of nine scouts who will be making the trip up to Rhinelander to experience winter camp (in a cabin). We have two leaders signed up so are looking for at least one more adult as well. Registration closes Saturday, February 11.

Hanna Winter Resort provides everything Scouts BSA Members need to have an incredible outdoor winter experience. Enjoy the pristine winter northwoods environment around the Hanna Venture Base and the freedom to do nearly any winter activity you want.  Before and after lunch campers can use the camp snowshoes, broomball equipment, and ice fishing gear; it is a blast! Scroll down to see pictures from previous trips.

We will leave at 8am Saturday morning, drive to Rhinelander, go tubing in the afternoon at Sylvan Hill Park, have dinner and then drive to Camp Tesomas for two nights, leaving Monday shortly after breakfast. For this trip we stop on the way there and the way back to eat lunch so Scouts have to bring about $20-$25 to cover the cost of meals to/from camp.
