Troop 24 News

Our chartered organization, Riverside Presbyterian Church, has requested scout help at their next workday, Wednesday June 13th, from 6 to 8 pm. Work will include weeding and landscaping work in the church yard. You do not need to sign up ahead of time, just show up in work clothes in the church driveway. Service hours will be given.

Swim tests for the next two Wednesdays are moved back to 7:45 pm to avoid overlap with the Pav YMCA swim team practice. Remember to sign up and show up if you plan to swim or boat at summer camp.

Help Needed This Week on Jon M’s Eagle Project!

Jon M. needs some volunteers for his Eagle Project this Wednesday and Thursday!! Thanks to those who have helped start the project – but more help is needed the next few days. Service hours will be given to scouts who volunteer.

Project Description: We will be improving the storage of costumes and props for the Hauser drama department, including removing all items from the storage loft, organizing and inventorying them and placing them back in the storage loft.

Special Instructions: Each volunteer will need to bring an I.D. with them, and sign in at the Hauser office, where their names will be on a list of volunteers. Please come to the auditorium stage after checking in. We will be working in the building while school is in session so we will need to act accordingly. You will go right from the office and into the auditorium that is next door. If you do not have a driver’s license or school I.D. you will not be allowed to enter the school. The Friday shift may not be needed, and there will be an email regarding its cancellation in the morning.

Swim Tests for Summer Camp

All scouts attending summer camp at Tesomas and adults attending Tesomas who intend to boat or swim should plan to take the Boy Scout swim test. The swim test is required every year, not just for new scouts. Everyone who intends to swim or boat must take the test.

The swim test will be offered for Troop 24 members at the Pav YMCA on the following dates:

Wednesday June 6 at 7:30 pm
Wednesday June 13 at 7:30 pm
Wednesday June 20 at 7:30 ppm

The Pav YMCA is located at 2947 Oak Park Ave. in Berwyn. When you arrive, let the front desk staff know that you are there for the Boy Scout swim test (you do not need to purchase a guest pass). Then proceed to the pool where you will check in with troop leaders and Jared Miller, the YMCA aquatics director.

If you do not attend one of these test dates, you will be asked to take the test upon arrival at Camp Tesomas or you will be designated a non-swimmer.
