The following message is for Troop 24 scouts in 8th grade or older and Troop leaders:
Hello Adventure Seekers,

The Troop 24 High Adventure trek is set and you are invited.  This summer we will be backing the pristine trails of Isle Royale from July 9 to July 15.  The cost will be $850 per person.  Camp Tesomas will provide the camping gear and you are responsible for your personal gear.  Scouts that are First Class and have graduated 8th grade are eligible.  Trained Leaders are also eligible.  

The Crew will consist of 10 people: 1 Tesomas Leader, 1 Troop 24 Leader (minimum), 8 Troop 24 Scouts (maximum).

A deposit of $200 will be accepted starting Thursday March 9 at the troop meeting.  After that checks may be left with me or placed in my mail box at 420 Herrick Road, Riverside.  Please send me an email or text that you have done so.  We will keep track of when deposits are made because we have a limited number of participants on the trek.  We may have a wait list so we need to know who paid and in what order.  Any Leader interested in going must make a payment as well.  The balance of the cost will be due on May 1.

Our next campout will be held in the DuPage County Forest Preserve at the Blackwell Youth-Group Campground in West Chicago, IL, on March 17-19, 2023.

In addition to camping, we will visit the First Division Museum at nearby Cantigny Park, which has various military indoor exhibits as well as an outdoor Tank Park. Climbing on the tanks at the outdoor park has been a scout favorite in the past!

This campout is open to all scouts, and will be an opportunity for new crossover scouts to learn how campouts work now that they have graduated from Cub Scouts. New scouts are are strongly encouraged to attend if at all possible, and parents as well!

It’s almost time for our annual trek back up to Tesomas Scout Camp President’s Day weekend!

Hanna Winter Resort provides everything Scouts BSA Members need to have an incredible outdoor winter experience. Enjoy the pristine winter northwoods environment around the Hanna Venture Base and the freedom to do nearly any winter activity you want.  Before and after lunch campers can use the camp snowshoes, broomball equipment, and ice fishing gear; it is a blast! We will leave at 8am Saturday morning, drive to Rhinelander, go tubing in the afternoon at Sylvan Hill Park, have dinner and then drive to Camp Tesomas for two nights, leaving Monday shortly after breakfast. For this trip we stop on the way there and the way back to eat lunch so Scouts have to bring about $20-$25 to cover the cost of meals to/from camp and possible snacks from the camp vending machine.
