Bike Inspection for Camp – July 6

Bike inspection for camp will take place Thursday, July 6, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Janopoulos’ house at 360 Nuttall in Riverside. We don’t want scouts to get to camp and have problems with their bikes, so the inspection is mandatory. If you know that your bicycle needs repair you will need to bring the needed parts with you and we will repair the bike that day.

You can also take your bicycle to any bike shop for inspection. Ask the bike shop to provide a paper saying that it is good working order.

We strongly encourage every scout to bring a bike. The camp is very large and it makes it much faster and easier to get around. Bikes are necessary for scouts taking archery and shooting sports because the ranges are quite far from our campsite.

An Ax Yard training will also be taking place at the Janopoulos’ house at the same time. Scouts who need to earn the “Totin’ Chip” in order to take the Woodcarving Merit Badge class will learn about and practice how to safely use knives and axes. A Totin’ Chip is required to possess or purchase a pocket knife at camp.

This summer we will not be able to offer our usual pre-camp CPR training. CPR training is one of the requirements for the merit badges Canoeing, First Aid, Lifesaving and Small-Boat Sailing. Scouts taking these merit badges will be able to take the CPR training at camp. CPR training is offered each weekday at 3 to 4 pm in the Personal Wellness program area. Scouts do not need to pre-register and only need to attend one session to complete the training.
