Mock Trial Tonight, June 26

Reminder to those completing the Law Merit Badge:
TONIGHT is your mock trial – Joe Jackson v. Andrew Middle School.
Will Joe Jackson be expelled for bringing a fake gun to school?

Please meet promptly at 7:00 p.m. at the North Riverside Village Hall. Attorney Sean Abernathy and Attorney Deidre Christenson have volunteered their time to help our panel of attorneys and Troop 24. We will be holding our mock trial in the council chambers. Please bring your handouts AND a pencil/pen to take notes. Jurors MUST bring their juror information sheet and a pencil to take notes during the trial.

Dr. Lanken has kindly ordered pizzas for the scouts when we are done. If anyone would like to donate some jugs of water and cups it would be appreciated.

Law Merit Badge This Week

Sign-up has been closed for the Law Merit Badge. We have 16 scouts registered. The first two sessions (Tuesday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 20) will meet at 7:00 p.m. at RPC. For those of you who attended prior sessions with Mr. Robling, you only need to attend on Wednesday, June 20.
ALL scouts must bring with them on the 20th the following completed requirement:

(4) Ask five people (not more than one from your immediate family) about the role of law enforcement officers in our society. Discuss their answers with them.

Please write or type your answers in summary form for me to review. Please identify who you asked.

On June 19, we will meet in the Westminster Room (downstairs across from the Social Hall). On June 20, it is very important that you be ON TIME and meet outside the church at 7:00 p.m. where Officer Mike Pannick will meet with us to discuss Requirement 4(b) – Ask a law enforcement officer in your neighborhood about his or her responsibilities and duties. Report your findings.

Please be prompt and polite. If you already have a Blue Card, please bring it.

Thank you,
Mrs. Lulich
Merit Badge Counselor

Law Merit Badge on June 19, 20, 26

To all scouts interested in the Law Merit Badge, or who need to complete the Law Merit Badge, Mrs. Lulich will be conducting two sessions on Tuesday, June 19, and Wednesday, June 20. Some scouts attended one but not both of the Law Merit Badge sessions held by Mr. Robling earlier in the year. If you were not able to attend both of those sessions, this is an opportunity to complete requirements you missed.

Requirement 6(b) is to plan and a conduct a mock trial. We will work on that during the second session. The mock trial will be held on Tuesday, June 26, at 7:00 p.m. at North Riverside’s Village Hall. All troop members and parents are welcome to watch. We may even recruit a few of you as witnesses and jurors. Our mock trial will be USA vs. Smith. John Smith has been charged with breaking the law and stands to go to prison. We will re-create the courtroom drama and determine if John Smith is guilty of the charged offense by participating in this mock
