Donations and Volunteers Needed for Eagle project!

Hello Troop 24 families!  I am collecting items for the Guardian Corps of America for my Eagle Scout Project. They are a public charity that focuses on helping the homeless and homeless veterans. I have several boxes at different locations including the North Riverside Town Hall, Riverside Foods, Riverside Town Hall, and my House, where items can be dropped off. You can also bring donations to tonight’s Troop meeting. Items I am collecting include;  bars of soap, men’s socks (size 11-14), men’s underwear (size Lg, XL and XXL), and women’s socks (size 7-11). I am also collecting canned goods, however only those with easily removable lids. All socks and underwear must be new. The deadline for the collection will be May 8th.
I will also need scouts to help check boxes every 2x every week and bring items to my house. They will need to check the boxes on Tuesdays and Fridays.  Each box will have bags to help with removal with another bag under to be pulled up.  Additionally I will have a date to sort and pack all of the different items to drop off at Guardian Corps of America.
If you are interested in volunteering or have questions, please email me at: fedorski.kenny0@gmail.com. I will have a sort and pack workday Monday, May 9th at 6:30 pm.
Email Kenny if you can help.
Thanks for your support!

Service Hour Opportunities

Boy Scouts need to complete service hours as a requirement for rank advancement. For the Life rank, at least three hours of this service must be conservation-related. Here is some information on community events that are pre-approved for conservation service hours. These are NOT troop activities, so transportation and scout leader supervision will not be provided. We recommend that you bring an adult family member to participate if possible. Bring our Service Hour Form and have it signed at the event – please remember to turn the form in at a Troop meeting.

Scouting for Food Service Project

There is NO Troop meeting tonight. We hope you are enjoying your spring break!

Service Project this Saturday and next Saturday:
Scouting for Food is the Boy Scouts of America’s nationwide service project to help stop hunger in our communities. It began as a Scout’s service project in St. Louis, MO in 1985 and was adopted by the Boy Scout National Organization in 1988.

Pathway to Adventure Council will hold a council-wide Scouting for Food program that takes place on two consecutive weekends. On the first weekend, Scouts distribute bags or door hangers within their assigned area to let their neighbors know about the drive. On the second weekend, Scouts revisit those houses to pick up nonperishable items. Our Troop will then drop off collected food items at the Riverside Presbyterian Church Little Free Food Pantry. Scouts will receive service hour credit. Scouts and Adult Volunteers sign up at the links below:

Saturday April 2nd from 10 am to noon: Door hanger drop off

Jesus J Eagle Project – Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are needed to help on Jesus J’s Eagle project.
Please read his message and sign up if you can help!
“Hi everyone, my name is Jesus and I am a current Life Scout working on my Eagle Scout. The project I picked is to fix and repair the Riverside Little League Shed. I am currently looking for volunteers to help me. Here is the link to the signup genius. It would be great if we could get together the weekend of November 13-14 and work on it as much as possible before the snow hits. As a former little league player I have many memories playing through Riverside Little League and wish for this to continue for kids to come. Please consider signing up to volunteer as it would make a big impact on the kids, coaches, and community in general. Thank you for your time and consideration and helping me with this project.
