Court of Honor October 17

REMINDER: This Thursday, October 17, is our fall Court of Honor. Scouts will be recognized for advancement and receive merit badges, etc. All scouts are expected to attend unless they have an unavoidable conflict. For parents new to the process, you should know that parents are called to the front when their scout receives a rank advancement, so your presence is also necessary.

There is a change in venue for this Court of Honor. We will meet in the RPC sanctuary rather than the Social Hall. The Social Hall has been booked by a film crew shooting scenes in Riverside. The filming is supposed to occur on Scottswood Road so parking may be a problem. We suggest you park in the Swim Club parking lot and walk to the church. Enter the middle door rather than the usual door on the left.

Court of Honor April 25

UPDATE 4/24/13: We have had only three families respond. We will have HOARDS of hungry scouts tomorrow, and we really need your help in providing treats!

Our spring Court of Honor, held to recognize advancement and achievement of our scouts, will be held on Thursday, April 25, at 7:00 p.m. at RPC. We ask that scouts be accompanied to the Court by at least one parent. A parent (or parents) come to the front of the room with scouts advancing in rank. Scouts should be in full uniform (shirt, neckerchief, and olive/tan/khaki pants–not necessarily the scout pants, but clean and neat). Scouts with merit badge sashes should wear them.

Snacks will be served following the program. Please let Sue Jones (sue_jones@designpac.com) know what you can bring. A couple of parents to help set up or clean up afterward would also be appreciated. Please contact Sue to volunteer.

Court of Honor – April 25 – Need Emcee

We need a scout to work with our Scoutmasters for the Court of Honor on April 25. This would satisfy one of the requirements for the Communications Merit Badge. If you are interested, please talk to Mr. Hartwig.

Court of Honor on April 25

Our spring Court of Honor will be held on April 25. Scouts who are close to advancing will have an opportunity for a Board of Review on April 11. Please ask Mr. Hartwig for a Scoutmaster Conference, and contact Nancy Hopkins at nmhopkins1@comcast.net if you are requesting a Board of Review.

Snacks Needed for November 8 Court of Honor

Our fall Court of Honor, held to recognize advancement and achievement of our scouts, will be held on Thursday, November 8, at 7:00 p.m.

Eagle Court of Honor June 2

All scouts are invited (and encouraged to attend) the Eagle Court of Honor for our newest Eagle Scouts Karl Jantze and Jeff Ringbloom. Join us in honoring their achievement on Saturday, June 2, at 3:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Riverside Presbyterian Church.

Need Treats for Court of Honor on Thursday

Parents: If you are able to contribute treats (healthy or otherwise) for the Court of Honor this Thursday, please contact Sue Jones at sue_jones@designpac.com to let her know that you will be bringing something. With our hungry hoard of scouts (75 currently), we need lots of food! Sue will also need at least a couple of parents to help her set up the refreshment table and make drinks. Please respond directly to Sue if you are available to help.

Court of Honor April 19

Our Spring Court of Honor will be next Thursday, April 19, 7:00 p.m., in the RPC Social Hall. We have two Courts of Honor each year to recognize our scouts’ achievements. We ask that at least one parent attend with each scout, as parents come to the front of the room to stand with their scout for rank advancements. Our scouts will also describe their events and outings.

To emcee this event, we are asking if there are any scouts currently working on the Communication Merit Badge, who need to full Requirement 8: Plan a troop court of honor, campfire program, or an interfaith worship service. Have the patrol leaders’ council approve it, then write the script and prepare the program. Serve as master of ceremonies. Scouts should contact Mr. Payne at pain08@comcast.net immediately if they wish to fulfill this requirement at the Court of Honor.

Finally, we need two parent volunteers to organize the treats for the reception following the program. Those parent volunteers will coordinate set-up and clean-up and will need volunteers for snacks (cookies, fruit, cheese/crackers, veggies, etc.) If you are willing to help coordinate the reception, please contact Nancy Hopkins at nmhopkins1@comcast.net

Scouts Needed for Eagle Court of Honor

We need about a dozen scouts to participate in the Eagle Court of Honor on Saturday, November 26. Please contact Asst. Scoutmaster Ringbloom to let him know if you are available. Scouts need to dress in uniform (sashes & neckerchiefs included, no jeans) and should be at the Township Hall at 1:15. ALL scouts are encouraged to attend, even if not one of the official participants.
